Curbside Parking
Metered parking costs $1 per hour in the downtown core (the area bounded by Almaden Boulevard, 10th Street, Julian Street and Reed Street) and 50 cents per hour in the periphery. The majority of metered parking is limited to 1 and 2 hours. Meters operate from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m., Monday-Saturday, downtown; and from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday-Saturday in Japantown. Meters take nickels, dimes, quarters and dollar coins.

Multispace meters, too: Downtown San Jose has introduced multispace meters in some parts of downtown, especially near the arena and Diridon Station. Pay using bills, coins or credit cards. The chage during the day near the train station is $2 for up to 12 hours. The cost may be more when the arena hosts events.

Green zones: Parking in these spaces is limited to 30 minutes to serve patrons who will be zipping in and out of a business.

Yellow zones: Use of yellow zones is limited to commercial delivery vehicles with commercial plates. The time limit is 1 hour while actively loading and/or unloading.

Note that many of the green and yellow zones are enforced seven days a week.
Please remember to read and understand the posted signs before parking at a meter or green or yellow zone.
Blue Zones - Parking for motorists covered by the Americans With
Disabilities Act (ADA) with placards is free at "Blue"-painted and
marked spaces on the street. However, the spaces for disabled in city
garages and lots require payment at regular rates. Those city lots and
garages with the most ADA spaces include Fourth and St. John (24),
Market-San Pedro (17), Fourth and San Fernando (16), Convention Center
(14) and City Hall and Third Street (11).
